Please note, we currently are not expecting to run this course in 2020.
Our one-day Volunteer Development Programme is for those who wish to find out more about becoming a Professional Volunteer for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO). Professional Volunteers support VAO in their workplace and community, fundraise and offer us optical support. As a Professional Volunteer you can apply for a volunteer role on an overseas assignment when a role becomes available.
The course is also suitable for returning Professional Volunteers who have not volunteered/engaged with us for 4 years or more.
You need to have completed the Volunteer Development Programme before you can apply to volunteer on an overseas assignment. Our assignments are planned around country need and each year we require a different amount of volunteers due to the phases of our programmes, therefore attending the training does not guarantee a place on an assignment, however it is the first step in being able to apply for a place. We currently have very limited roles available for overseas assignments.
Vision Aid Overseas benefits from experienced volunteers leading our assignment teams. If you have been on at least one assignment and feel you have the skills and attributes to lead a team, our two-day Team Leader Development Programme will prepare you for this role. All Team Leaders and Deputy Team Leaders have to attend this course to take on these roles. Due to the limited opportunities we have at the moment it is unlike we will run this course in 2020.
