Did you know 1.2 billion people worldwide can’t see properly simply because they need glasses and that over 75% of visual impairment is avoidable?

We believe universal eye care is possible. We know hope is in sight.

Do you?

Thursday October 8th 2020 is World Sight Day and we want to make a difference to those 1.2 billion people.

Join us this October to celebrate, raise awareness and fundraise to make sure there is eye care everywhere

About World Sight Day

Coordinated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, World Sight Day is the only international day of awareness and fundraising to focus global attention on the looming crisis of avoidable blindness and visual impairment.

How to get involved?

Anyone can get involved and it doesn’t just have to be on October 8th, we want the whole of October to be about the need for eye care everywhere.

Support our BBC Radio 4 Appeal

Vision Aid Overseas has been chosen by BBC Radio 4 to have a charity appeal on Sunday October 4th and Thursday October 8th. To find out more click here.

You can support us during the week of and on World Sight Day itself, by encouraging people to listen in to our appeal. If you work in an optical practice you can play the appeal in store, put it on your social media channels or customer e-newsletters.

Donate

Just £5 can provide an eye exam and life changing glasses to a person in need. So why not donate today?

If you run an optical practice or your own business why not ask customers to donate £5 on World Sight Day or during that week? You could even encourage them by offering to match their donation.

If you already have one of our collecting tins you can use that for cash donations or set up your till to process donations by card.

Due to current circumstances we are no longer able to provide new collecting tins but you can process cash donations using your own till, own bank account and make a donation through our website.

Hold a virtual quiz

If you’re not already tired of using Zoom or Skype to stay in touch, why not hold a virtual quiz with family, friends or colleagues? You can ask for a donation to play.
