May 2020

Gerard Brady sadly passed away on the 17th May 2020.

Gerard was very committed to Vision Aid Overseas and joined assignments as a volunteer to Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Ghana & Vietnam starting in the late 1980s and continuing throughout the 1990s, bringing eye care to those that needed it. Gerard was part of an assignment to Tanzania in 1988 working alongside Brian Ellis, the founder of Vision Aid Overseas.

Gerard joined VAO on the 18th December 1987 as a patron member.

Antoinette, his wife said “Gerard will be missed so much but the memories and spirit live on. We all spoke a lot about his work in Africa with Vision Aid Overseas in the ceremony yesterday, so thrilled with the contributions made. VAO meant so much to him and the assignments were such an important part of his life overseas.”

Gerard's family has set up an appeal for Vision Aid Overseas to continue such valuable work, ensuring eye care for  those that need it in different countries.

Vision Aid Overseas would like to remember Gerard for his commitment and dedication to our work and may he rest in peace. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
