Recycling second-hand glasses has been part of our fundraising for many years. It provides both income to the charity and, importantly, allows us to tell people about the importance of our work in high street opticians across the UK.

If you would like to start a collection point for second-hand glasses on behalf of Vision Aid Overseas, please follow the steps below:

1. Do you have a DX courier?

Please ensure you have a DX courier service as DX kindly donates their service to us and will only pick up second-hand glasses from businesses they already have a service with to be delivered to our head office free of charge.

If you do not have a DX courier, we advise against setting up a recycling point. The reason being, that you will need to cover the cost of sending the glasses to us which can sometimes be higher than the value of the donated second-hand glasses. You can alternatively find your nearest recycling point here.

Please do not use FreePost codes on your parcel as we are charged for these. Often the cost to us for receiving such parcels negates any income derived from recycling the glasses sent.

If you are part of the Specsavers Optical Group and would like to set up a recycling point, all Specsavers stores use UK Mail and have a different agreement with the collection of glasses - to find out more email: [email protected]

2. Register on our recycling map below. Please note, only businesses within the UK will be accepted, see here why)

3. Download your recycling poster

Unfortunately, we no longer have the funding to be able to provide our supporters with recycling boxes. However, you can create your own recycling box by downloading and printing our recycling poster below. If you do not have a good printer, please request for a recycling poster to be sent to you when registering.
