For approximately 27 years I have in one way or another helped the people of the U.K. to improve their eyesight. Later this year I'd like to help the people of Africa to do the same.
I am sure a lot of my friends/colleagues are aware of the fantastic work that Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) has been doing for many years. Therefore when I saw an opportunity to help them I jumped at the chance. It is my intention to raise money for them by taking part in the Great Ethiopian Run this November. I originally thought this little 10k run was just a few people getting together one sunny day to go for a jog around some villages in Addis Ababa, however this little run included over 40,000 participants last year and takes place at 8,000ft above sea level, I'm led to believe this makes it a bit tougher to complete.
Myself, VAO & a few of the 640 Million souls would love it if you could help us. I'd love your moral support, advice on running at altitude, any hotel recommendations for Addis Ababa etc, but most importantly I'd love your cash.
Please take a few minutes to maybe click on the links at the top to see just what amazing work VAO do, then reach for your bank cards and achieve that warm rosy glow we all get when helping another human out.
Thank you in advance.
PS The current course record is a rather pedestrian 28.18 set in 2006, I reckon it's about time that record was broken.
