Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I will be going to Zambia in September 2017 with Vision Aid Overseas to provide eye care in rural communities, where they would otherwise have no access to these services and to train local eye care workers to enable self-sustainability.

The aim of VAO is to fight poverty by improving access to eye care in developing countries. Having their vision improved simply by a pair of glasses or getting medical attention for eye conditions can help someone get an education or a job to take care of their families or to leave the house without depending on others.

Many of us don't always appreciate the simple gifts of life such as the ability to see and the ease at which we can access a simple eye test and get glasses to improve our vision. Approx 10% of the world's population have poor eye sight, just due to the lack of access to eye care.

Your donations will help provide spectacles for those in need, help train local eye care workers and help establish vision centres in rural areas, in order for this service to be sustainable. The vision centres will have trained staff, be equipped with facilities for eye tests and a laboratory to make spectacles.

Just £5 can pay for an eye test and a pair of glasses. £22 can pay for a day of eye care training.

I am excited for this opportunity to use my skills to make a difference and I would greatly appreciate any donations you can give, big or small.

Thank you.
