Our work Real stories Catherine Kazembe- Seeing the blackboard Name: Catherine Kazembe Country: Livingstone, Zambia Occupation: Primary school student Meet Catherine, a 7 year old student at the Rainbow Trust Primary School in Livingstone, Zambia. Catherine has dreams of becoming a nurse when she is older however, her dreams looked unattainable as she was falling behind at school because she couldn’t see the blackboard well enough to learn. Did you know, 80% of what a child learns is processed through the visual system? Thanks to our supporters, Vision Aid Overseas was able to provide Catherine with an eye test and a pair of prescription glasses costing just £5 which improved her vision. Catherine is now improving her grades at school and her dreams of becoming a nurse maybe possible. Without clear vision children can’t learn to get an education and adults can’t earn to care for their families and contribute to their communities. However, you can make all the difference today by making a donation.
