Topcon donates £7,000 to support Vision Aid Overseas’ work across Africa.

In April 2017, Optical equipment manufacturing company Topcon, raised an incredible £7,000 during Optrafair, the UK’s largest eye care convention to support the work of Vision Aid Overseas. The manufacturing company donated for each piece of optical equipment sold at the three- day exhibition with the proceeds going directly to Vision Aid Overseas' work in Africa.

Andy Yorke, Managing Director of Topcon said:

From day one, Topcon felt very strongly about supporting vision charities in the UK. The work that they do is truly inspiring and we feel privileged to contribute towards it.

The large gift from Topcon will support Vision Aid Overseas to continue to provide much needed eye care services and prescription glasses to some of Africa’s most isolated and vulnerable communities. So, that children who can’t see can learn and get an education and adults who can’t see can continue to earn and provide for their families.

Nicola Chevis, CEO of Vision Aid Overseas commented:

We are incredibly grateful of the support given by Topcon. As many of you may have already seen in the new figures released by the IAPB on World Sight Day in October, shows an increase in the number of people worldwide suffering from avoidable visual impairment from 640 million to 1.1 billion. Visual impairment is on the rise and we need to tackle it head on together before it spirals out of control.

Topcon has once again agreed to support Vision Aid Overseas at Optrafair 14th – 16th April 2018. So, every piece of equipment you purchase with Topcon can have a life changing impact on the lives of so many people across Africa suffering from poor eye sight.
