Vision Aid Overseas hosts another successful Annual General Meeting


On Saturday 22nd September 2018, Vision Aid Overseas hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Arora Hotel, Crawley. The day commenced with a lunch and an awards ceremony recognising 13 members who have shown exceptional commitment and contribution towards the work of Vision Aid Overseas. 

 

The first award presented was the Trustees’ Recognition Award, which was awarded to six of Vision Aid Overseas’ newest volunteers for their outstanding contributions and commitment to Vision Aid Overseas’ mission and vision so far. The second award was the Champion Award, which was granted to seven of the longest-standing volunteers, recognising their exceptional service, contributions and commitment to the work of Vision Aid Overseas.

The day was then proceeded with the Members’ Meeting where Vision Aid Overseas’ Chief Executive Officer, Director of Programmes, Professional Volunteer Co-ordinator and Director of Fundraising and Communications gave an update on the organisation. After the presentations, there was a question and answer session where members had the opportunity to discuss some of the topics presented in more detail.  

 

The formal AGM followed with a presentation from Vision Aid Overseas’ Treasurer Peter Corbett who presented the Annual Report and Accounts 2017/18 to the members and a presentation from Chair David Scott Ralphs. During the Annual General Meeting, David Scott-Ralphs officially stepped down as Chair of Vision Aid Overseas and professor Nora Colton was elected by the board of Trustees as new Chair of Vision Aid Overseas.

 

David Scott-Ralphs said;

It’s been a great privilege to chair Vision Aid Overseas for the past 6 years and I’m really delighted that Nora Colton will be taking over from me. I know that Nora will be a huge asset as the charity continues its growth and development over the next period. I wish her all the very best and hope she enjoys the role as much as I have.

Vision Aid Overseas’ Members also elected four new Trustees to the board, Ian P Davies, Professor Hannah Faal, Stephen Thompson and Ronnie Graham.
