Vacancy for Fundraising and Communications Officer
Based in Crawley, West Sussex

Vision Aid Overseas
Vision Aid Overseas exists so that children in Africa who can’t see can learn and get an education, and adults who can’t see can earn to support their families and contribute to their communities. A staggering 1.2 billion people worldwide can’t see properly to learn and earn simply because they need glasses. 89% of the people affected live in low and middle-income countries, and yet, it can cost as little as £5 to provide an adult or child with a life changing eye test and a pair of prescription glasses. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), restoring sight is one of the most cost-effective health interventions to reduce poverty.

The role
The Fundraising and Communications Officer is responsible for supporting Vision Aid Overseas’ ambitious fundraising and communications strategy. Reporting to the Director of Fundraising & Communications the post-holder takes a lead role in generating donations via events, community, individual, and corporate fundraising, and for raising the profile of Vision Aid Overseas in the UK.

This is an exciting time to join the team; we are ready to launch a new fundraising appeal focused on child eye health and you will play a key role in delivering this across digital channels. You will also join us at a time when we are working to find and share compelling human stories, making more use of video and digital storytelling to help reach new supporters and to give existing supporters and rewarding and engaging experience.

The person
This is a forward-facing role in a small and busy team. You will bring your willingness to work hard and get involved, your creativity, sound organisational skills, and your ability and confidence to communicate well with people. Joining us now as Fundraising and Communications Officer will give you a great opportunity to work in a friendly and supportive environment with lots of opportunity to deepen your understanding of the charity sector, fundraising and communications, and international development.
