About the event

Started by the Ethiopian legend and long distance runner Haile Gebrselassie, the Great Ethiopian Run is a fun and challenging 10 kilometre running event held in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa which stands at a staggering 8,000 ft. above sea level, making it Africa’s highest capital city.

Join around 40,000 runners from around the world and Ethiopia’s Olympic long distance runners in the bustling heart of Addis Ababa to raise valuable money that can help bring affordable and life changing eye care to some of Africa’s poorest people.
