Vision Aid Overseas is a UK-based international non-governmental organisation dedicated to fighting poverty by transforming access to eye care services in developing countries. It is estimated that 670 million people worldwide (10 per cent of the world's population) are disabled or disadvantaged because they have poor eye sight and no access to primary eye care or spectacles.

Vision Aid Overseas runs an innovative programme in eight African countries focused on developing human resources for eye health and establishing Vision Centres run on a sustainable, social-entrepreneurial model. We also utilise the expertise of volunteer optical professionals to transfer skills and develop community-based services.

Due to a period of extensive growth, Vision Aid Overseas wants to appoint a dynamic Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The candidate must have proven senior Board level experience and the empathy to work closely with the Trustees and Chief Executive to achieve the organisation's goals. We are embarking on a series of major programme developments that will involve significant change for the organisation and the Chairman will require skills and experience in fundraising, communication and international development.

This position is not remunerated but all reasonable travel and subsistence costs will be met. The Job Description is available to download.
