Training and Support

Volunteer training and support

By sharing your skills overseas you become part of a group of dedicated volunteers committed to helping the world to see.

Volunteers are integral to Vision Aid Overseas and help achieve our mission to transform access to eye care in the developing world. That is why we invest in volunteer training and engagement; to ensure that everyone who goes on a project with us is fully prepared.

There are three steps to going on a project with Vision Aid Overseas;

1. Become a member of Vision Aid Overseas

2. Attend the Volunteer Development Programme

3. Fill out the relevant forms and send to the Vision Aid Overseas office.

As a volunteer you are supported every step of the way!

For many, going on an overseas project is a life changing experience but we also realise it can also be a daunting one. That is why we ask all of our volunteers to attend a two day training course. The Volunteer Development Programme will provide you with everything you need to know about our work in our partner countries and equip you with the knowledge, understanding and confidence to share your skills overseas.

We encourage personal development and progression!

At Vision Aid Overseas we support your personal development by encouraging volunteers to become team leaders. Once you have taken part in an overseas project, you will be given the opportunity to apply to be a team leader on future trips.  To become a team leader you must attend a training course where you will learn leadership and team building skills. The next Team Leader Development programme will be taking place in Spring 2013.
